Subliminal advertising plagues the subconscious

We forgot so long ago
Emotions; what it was like to be real
Barricaded behind stockpiles
Of consumerist bullshit
Fed to us daily on our TV screens
The critically acclaimed
Those yet to be named
Rule our minds, life we cannot find

We buy things we don’t need
With money we don’t have
To impress people we hate
A superficial, shallow portrayal
Of a human being
Led astray by bright colours,
Pretty pictures, catchy jingles

The plastic contagion
The created distorts the created
Two fake objects
Sharing a sad and sorry existence
Giving your life to something
That can’t even breathe

We buy things we don’t need
With money we don’t have
To impress people we hate

Wake up and breathe
Feel what it is to be real
Put down the papers; turn off your TV’s
